Students’ Unions are exciting charities, we’re connected to our members, political, full of enthusiasm for our local communities, and focused on improving the education of, and building a better future for, our students.

Through us, our members run a huge range of engaging and interesting activities, and we work hard to make sure that their opinions and views help to shape the education sector to make it more accessible, fairer and an enjoyable and worthwhile experience for all. We are proud to be a charity with strong values and a rich heritage of generating change.

We celebrate the fact that each year our student leadership changes, ensuring that we and challenges of our members. Now we are seeking exceptional leaders to support and nurture our evolution, to provide some longer-term stability and help to grow Trinity Saint David Students’ Union into a strong, dynamic and responsive voice for all of our members.

University Of Wales Trinity Saint David

UWTSD has a clear and exciting strategic plan which places emphasis upon applied learning, strong academic disciplines and a clear commitment to innovation, enterprise and knowledge transfer. This ‘connected university’ is driving through structural and strategic change which is closely associated with industry, business and enterprise. The University has a clear national profile - delivering for Wales and celebrating its distinctiveness on a UK and international stage.

This current incarnation of our University was formed in 2010 – an initial merger of the University of Wales Lampeter and Trinity University College Carmarthen, founded under Lampeter’s Royal Charter of 1828. The Royal Charter is the oldest in Wales and the third oldest in the UK after the universities of Oxford and Cambridge. In 2013 Swansea Metropolitan University became part of UWTSD, and the group has grown to include regional further educational colleges as part of an innovative higher and further educational dual sector structure.

The UWTSD Group has over 25,000 learners across 17 campuses in rural and city locations. The University’s approach is to deliver clear, tangible benefits for learners, employers, industry and communities by offering a vocational approach from entry level to post-doctoral research The University’s main campuses are situated in various locations in and around Swansea’s city centre as well as in the rural towns of Lampeter and Carmarthen in South West Wales. The Wales International Academy of Voice is located in Cardiff, as is The Gate Arts centre that houses BA Perfformio, and in addition the University has a London campus offering a range of Business degrees, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, this model has expanded to Birmingham as well.

Trinity Saint David Students’ Union

Our students are diverse in interests and needs, and are spread across a wide geographical area. Our ongoing challenge is to reflect and represent that diversity, and to build a series of connected student communities under a shared collective approach that remains reflective of individual campus identities and history.
We are an organisation with ambition and we are keen to develop our approach and services to meet the demands of the students of today. We have the appetite for change and want to broaden the positive impact of our projects and services on our students, our University and our local communities. The organisation is one year into an ambitious strategic plan which aims to ensure that TSDSU is constantly pushing for the best and fairest deal for students, and providing meaningful opportunities for our members.

We already run an impressive range of student-led activities and have some incredibly passionate and highly skilled student volunteers. Our ambition is to recruit, train and inspire even more of our students so that all of our students to leave the University proud of having been a member of our Students’ Union with an understanding of the impact that we’ve had on their lives and the skills and experience to excel in whatever they choose to do.
