Mark Bleasdale

External Trustee

I run a co-working space in Llandeilo with my wife and in those premises, I am also a sports massage therapist and coach in running fitness.

I also coach adults and children at the local cricket and running clubs as well as being an active part of the local Town Twinning association.

I spent the last 5 years of my police service as an elected official of the Police Federation and so spent that time representing the rank-and-file officers locally and across Wales

I have been an external trustee on the Board since 2019. I was attracted to the role after seeing it advertised locally and I felt as I was coming to the end of one career and starting a new one it was a chance to do something voluntarily possibly to help others, though my knowledge of university life was somewhat dated, having graduated myself from the University of Birmingham in 1989.

I have found my time as a trustee very rewarding having been part of the Board of Trustees overseeing the running of the Union, helping out with interviews to recruit other trustees, advising on structural and strategic issues for the Board and chairing some of the committees.
