If you are feeling at immediate risk from another person please seek support from emergency services via a 999 call.
If you are contacting the Union or the University during the closure period because you believe that you (or someone else) are seriously unwell or you believe that there is immediate danger of you (or someone else) hurting yourself or others, please call 999.
To access support from community mental health services during this period please call your doctor, explain that you are feeling at risk and ask for an emergency appointment or go to the A&E Department at your local hospital.
If you live in Wales, you can access mental health support and advice by calling 111 and selecting Option 2.
If you or any student needs access to support for health, mental health, and wellbeing during this period then please call the University’s Student Assistance Programme via 0800 028 3766.
The Student Assistance Programme is staffed 24/7, 365 days a year by trained professionals who will support UWTSD students with a range of issues relating to student life including mental health, stress and anxiety, money, employment, and housing. The service also provides initial legal guidance in a range of areas. You can read more about the Student Assistance Programme on the university's wellbeing support webpage.
During the University’s closure period the Student Assistance Programme is the established route for accessing support and guidance. The University’s own cause for concern, support request, and bursary application forms will be switched off during the closure period and will be re-activated on January 5 2026.
Learning Support, Student Hwb Services, and Student Money Support will re-commence from January 5 2026, though individual appointments may vary due to staff annual leave commitments at this time of year. The University’s Academic Term starts from Monday, 5 January 2026.
Between the 23 December 2025 and the 5 January 2026 there are no arrangements to approve Extenuating Circumstances requests; these will be considered from the 5 January 2026.
Students living in University-run halls on campus will continue to be supported by the onsite Operations Team during this period. If you are living on campus, please use the details found on the Estates and Facilities webpage contact your relevant Operations Team for any maintenance or entry issues.
