Make the most of your time as a student with us. Hi there we're UWTSD Students' Union.

And you're more than a student - you're one of our members.

We're the people in purple on a mission to help you make the most of your time as a student.

Whoever you are, whatever you do, you'll find your place at UWTSD. Let's run through what we do.

Voice - we are a proudly student-led charity. We are not a part of the University.

You can be a part of our network of student representatives who help us gather student thoughts and opinions and ensure they get heard.

We also run the Student Elections at UWTSD which you can nominate and vote in - helping to pick the people who represent you.

And leading us are your Union Presidents they are student-elected and work full-time to direct our work, hold us accountable and represent you to the union the university and beyond.

Advice - as a member, you can use our advice service - it's free, independent, and confidential.

We want to empower you to make the right decisions for you.

Opportunities - your student experience is so much more than just lectures and we're committed to helping you make the most of it.

You can embrace your passions by joining or starting a student-led club or society.

Bring your A-game by joining one of our competitive sports teams with professional training from UWTSD's Academy of Sport.

You can take your student experience to the next level by taking part in one of our Give It A Go events

It's jam-packed with awesome experiences hand-picked by us at prices you won't find anywhere else.

After all that,  you can brush up your skills and get career-ready with free workshops and training from Skills Week.

Venues - we also run your on-campus venues. There's Y Llofft and Y Clwb in Carmarthen and The Hive, Old bar and Xtension in Lampeter.

They're great places to chill out, catch up with friends, and party the night away.

With us, you'll be making friends, making awesome memories, and making a difference in your community in no time.

Once enrolled at the university you're automatically one of our members.

Whether this is your first year or last, you study full-time or part-time, living on-campus or off, have a little free time or a lot  - we've got something for you.

Once enrolled as a student at UWTSD, you're automatically a member for the Students' Union for free - there is no form to complete or fee to pay.

Hi there - we're UWTSD Students' Union. We're a registered charity where every student at UWTSD is one of our members once they've enrolled. Your time at university is more than just lectures - and we're a team of staff and student-elected officers committed to helping you make the most of it.

Becoming a member

Membership is free

As an enrolled UWTSD student, your membership of the Students' Union is free and automatic - there are no forms to complete. There are times where we charge a fee for some of our activities. For example, our clubs and societies may charge a joining fee, or we may charge for some of our events.

Types of Membership

• Student Members - this is the majority of our members. They are current students at UWTSD and can access all our services, as well as nominating and voting in our elections.
• Associate Members - these are a mixture of non-UWTSD students and non-students who have joined one of our clubs or societies. They can attend club and society activities, but cannot use our other services and cannot nominate or vote in our elections.

Opportunities

Your time as a student is more than just lectures, and our Student Opportunities team is committed to helping you make the most of it - so join us, escape the classroom and get stuck in! As a member, you can get involved in lots of different activities including joining or starting groups around a common interest or passion, attending our events, and developing your skills and knowledge to help you in finding a career.

We are proudly student-led and it’s our mission to make sure that the thoughts and ideas of our members get heard by those who need to hear them, and as a member, you can get involved in different roles and activities to help us do this.

As a member, you can...

• You can nominate and vote in our Student Elections
• Join our network of student representatives and officers
• Get involved with your Presidents' projects, talk to them, and even become one yourself
• See what we’ve been up to at our open-to-all Annual General Meeting and other councils
• Submit and vote on ideas to improve student life via our Big Ideas platform

Opt out of Membership

If you wish to opt out of your Union membership, you can do this by emailing su@uwtsd.ac.uk. However, you'll lose access to all our services and activities. You can always opt-in again as long as you're an enrolled student via email.
