Black History Month 2024
Reclaiming Narratives
October is here, which means it's time for Black History Month! This year’s theme, ‘Reclaiming Narratives’, is all about taking control of the stories that matter most and celebrating the voices that deserve to be heard.
At UWTSD, we’re all about embracing who we are; our cultures, our heritage, and the awesome diversity we share as a community. Black History Month is the perfect time to highlight that individuality and celebrate the vibrant mix of people that make our Uni so special.
We’ve got loads of fun and inspiring events lined up for the month—think engaging talks, creative workshops, and even a few surprises! It’s a chance to come together, learn something new, and, most importantly, have fun while doing it.
So, get involved! Whether you’re coming for the culture, the history, or just to hang out with some awesome people, we’d love to see you at our events. Keep an eye on our socials and the SU website for all the details. This is a month of celebration you don’t want to miss!

Our Inclusivity Statement
UWTSD Students' Union is committed to making our community a place that is welcoming to everyone. We are devoted to being a safe environment where all students can thrive without fear of discrimination. We work relentlessly to make sure that every member of our community feels safe, valued, and respected.
In previous years we’ve prioritised campaigning for a fair and more inclusive society and we intend to do just that. Opportunities to learn, grow and empower students to make positive change are at the forefront of what we do. We aim to highlight important topics, like decolonising the curriculum and becoming active bystanders, to foster a culture of equality. We encourage you to continue to support each other. Let us ensure that UWTSD remains a place of diversity, inclusion and understanding.
