We are proudly student-led. It's you and your ideas that shape what we do! Nominations are open in our Student Elections, giving you the chance to run for a position and vote on your representatives - your choices will shape things for this academic year and beyond.

Open Positions

Presidents x4

  • £21,840 Salary*
  • Full-time

Our Presidents led the Union on a daily basis. We have four positions - 1 x Group President that's open to all students, and 3 x Campus Presidents which are open to Swansea, Lampeter, and Carmarthen students.

These roles begin on 17 June 2024.
* +£3,000 London Weighting Allowance if based in London only.

More About President Roles

These are full-time, paid roles receiving a salary of £21,840*. You would take either a year out from your studies or take on the role immediately after completing your degree.

Together, the team of Presidents leads the Students’ Union on a daily basis, providing direction to the Union’s staff team and making sure that the work of the organisation is relevant to the experience of our students. Presidents are considered the primary student representatives by the University and provide student ideas, issues and opinions on various topics by participating in the project, partnerships and committee work within the University.

Part-time Officers x17

  • Voluntary
  • Part-time

These are voluntary roles open to Carmarthen, Lampeter and Swansea students. Part-time Officers represent a particular community of students and attend Campus Council.

These roles start on the 1 August 2024.

The Union Chairperson provides direction during talks at our Annual General Meeting, Union Councils, and other student forums of discussion.

These roles start on the 1 August 2024.

Student Trustees x2

  • Voluntary
  • Part-time

Trustees sit on our board and are our final decision-makers and have responsibility for our success. This is our highest level of management and governance.

This is a voluntary role with 2 openings, open to all students. 

These roles start on 1 August 2024.

More About Student Trustee Role

Nearly all charities are led by a Board of Trustees. Student Trustees join the Students’ Union Board. The Students’ Union Board members are our final decision-makers and have responsibility for our success. This is our highest level of management and governance.

Trustees have legal control over and are personally responsible for, an organisation. 

To be eligible to become a Trustee

  • You must be at least 18 years old to be a trustee of the Students’ Union.
  • You may not act as a trustee if you are disqualified under the Charities Act. This includes if you:
  • Are disqualified as a company director
  • Have an unspent conviction for an offence involving dishonesty or deception (such as fraud)
  • Are an undischarged bankrupt (or subject to sequestration in Scotland), or have a current composition or arrangement including an individual arrangement (IVA) with your creditors
  • Have been removed as a trustee of any charity by the commission (or the court) because of misconduct or mismanagement
