We believe that students are a force for good - your thoughts, actions and passion have the potential to change how things are done at UWTSD and beyond.
Students at the heart of what we do 💜 - we are a proudly student-led charity. Everything we do is in the best interests of our students and we whole-heartedly advocate for their rights. Leading our work is a team of student-elected Presidents and Officers.
Will you become one of our leaders? - Our Student Elections are how students get elected into a position. Check out our list of positions to find a role you'll love and click the nominate button. There are four roles - Group President that's open to all students, and there's our Birmingham & London President, our Cardiff & Swansea President, and our Carmarthen President - which are open to students from those campuses.
Presidents are considered the primary student representatives by the University and provide student ideas, issues and opinions on various topics by participating in the project, partnerships and committee work within the University.
These are full-time, paid roles, for one year, and starts June 2026 - receiving a salary of £21,840 (*+£3,000 London Weighting Allowance). Want to know more about these roles? Visit our positions explainer page.
You must be a current UWTSD UK based student studying on either Birmingham or London campuses (this includes distance learners associated with these campuses - distance learners must be able to work from one of these campuses).
You must be graduating this academic year or you'll need to take a study break to take up this role.
Union Presidents sit on our Board of Trustees - you must meet the legal criteria to be eligible to become a trustee. Visit our Trustee explainer section for a list of the full criteria.
Additional eligibility criteria will be made available to ensure you are able to take up this role - this will be reiterated at Candidate Briefing.
Nearly all charities are led by a Board of Trustees. Student Trustees join the Students’ Union Board. The Students’ Union Board members are our final decision-makers and have responsibility for our success. This is our highest level of management and governance. Trustees have legal control over and are personally responsible for, an organisation. You must meet certain legal criteria to be eligible to become a trustee.
This is a voluntary role with two openings, open to all students, and starts August 2026. Want to know more about this role? Visit our positions explainer webpage
