Student Elections

UWTSD Students’ Union is a democratic organisation that is led by students for students. Therefore, the Students’ Union election gives all students the opportunity to have a say in the way it is run and its direction for the future.

We represent students on issues they tell us to and we campaign for the changes that our members have asked for and provide services to enhance their time at University.

To make sure we are relevant and effective in our work we always need students to get involved with their Students’ Union, by voting, by debating policy, telling us what we need to do better, and by standing in elections.

Our annual elections let you decide who you want to fill student leadership positions within the Students’ Union. Any student can put their name forward for a position and every student gets to vote.

Sabbatical Officers

We have four Sabbatical Officer positions, one Group President which is open to all students. And three Campus Presidents which are open to Swansea, Lampeter and Carmarthen students..

These are full-time, paid roles. You would take either a year out from your studies or take on the role immediately after completing your degree.

Together, the team of Sabbatical Officers leads the Students’ Union on a daily basis, providing direction to the Union’s staff team and making sure that the work of the organisation is relevant to the experience of our students. Sabbatical Officers are considered to be the primary student representatives by the University and provide student ideas, issues and opinions on a variety of topics by participating in the project, partnership and committee work within the University.
