Due to the current climate in Higher Education (HE) as a result of COVID, the University has focused on ‘Blended-Learning’. This has transitioned into online only during periods of lockdown, which has impacted the nature and provision of lecture specific resources. This policy is proposed to provide students with the backing needed to secure physical resources where required when we transition back into blended and more traditional delivery while advancing the University’s commitment to sustainable practice.

Council(s) Believe(s):

  • The University should continue its commitment to sustainable practice through reduction in paper waste.
  • All students should be provided digital copies of lecture handouts either through Moodle or email.
  • Students who require physical resources, with particular emphasis on in class handouts, should be provided these resources.

Council(s) Resolve(s)

  • For UWTSDSU to lobby the University to implement an opt in/out system for printed/physical lecture handouts for all modules.
  • That students should have the opportunity to change their preference for each module but also during a module by speaking with their module lead.
  • The SU will champion and support students right to change their mind to ensure the academic provision is suited to all students and their learning styles/needs.
