Taya, your Group President, has helped provide our members with timely and much-needed support over the past two years. Through leading on our Cost-of-Living Campaign at the Students’ Union, Taya has been able to achieve a variety of different ways to support students while at university - one of those achievements has been to provide all our campuses with free sanitary products and contraception products with our Pick n Mix units.
On our campuses, you can find one of our Students’ Union Pick n Mix Units, they are branded with the Students’ Union branding and are filled with items for you to take when needed.
Currently available in our Pick n Mix units are:
Please note that item types might slightly vary depending on the campus and availability.
But that’s not all! There are more items available on request – just ask a member of Students’ Union staff team
“When I came into office, I wanted to carry on the work that was started before me by lobbying for the continuation of free period products on ALL of our campuses. Periods are really expensive and they absolutely suck, so taking away that burden of not knowing if you can afford products or not was something that felt really important to me. The whole project was launched to help end the stigma around periods and anyone who experiences them using the free products. At first people were apprehensive about approaching the Pick n Mix units but now it honestly feels amazing seeing people access the products with no shame and judgement. I am so glad that students appreciate the project and there has been lots of positive feedback about how necessary the project is with its longevity and the continuation of it. This project has been a great success of the Union and with some help along the way from the University I hope it is continued long after I leave.” - Taya Gibbons, Group President
