My fellow students, As we ring in the new year and new academic term, I wish you all peace, love, continued growth and success. I address you all in an effort to provide any clarity and reassurance that I can at this time.

Many of you have reached out and taken the time to voice your fears - and I appreciate you for being brave enough to do so. Others of you have been silently worrying, and I hear your heart. I understand these conversations may bring uncertainty and concern about your studies and future at UWTSD.

Your experience as a student is still at the centre of what we do. Please know that we - your Students’ Union - are actively working to ensure that student protection is an absolute priority throughout this process.

The University has long committed to its Student Agreement, which sets out to protect your academic journey and provide you with a high-quality learning experience, and we are dedicated to ensuring the fulfilment of this commitment.

Our focus is to: 

1. Ensure clear communication - when the decision is made, we will help to communicate what it means to you as well as the support you can access
2. Protect your interests – whether through academic continuity, commuting support, or maintaining a strong sense of community, we are working to ensure that if changes occur, your needs are met. 
3. Advocate for flexible options – we are pushing for solutions that accommodate all types of students, whether you are a mature learner, commuting student, or balancing family commitments. 
4. Listen to you – your feedback is invaluable. We are working hard to collect and present your concerns and suggestions to the university decision-makers to take into account your academic future and personal well-being.

As many of you have shared, Lampeter is more than a campus; it is your home, a community, and a space for personal and academic growth. We are committed to preserving these values, whether through enhanced student support, additional resources, or new opportunities.
