Over the last few days there has been an increased number of incidents of bullying and harassment. Regardless of how you feel about someone, threatening them is not tolerated by the University or Students’ Union. We’re disappointed that this behaviour has been displayed by some students which is not in line with the university’s code of conduct or expectations of students.
We are all part of one community, that of UWTSD and we love celebrating being a part of that community. No-one should be made to feel unsafe whilst on campus or studying with the University.
We encourage all students to focus on what brings us all together; we’re part of a university celebrating 200 years of transforming education and transforming lives. Whether you study in London, Birmingham, Lampeter, Cardiff, Swansea, Bridgend, Carmarthen, or online, you are part of something bigger: the UWTSD family.
In terms of developments around safety, recently the university became the first institution in Wales to join ProtectEd, an accreditation which focuses on enhancing security and safety for students. This initiative continues to develop both processes and practice for the University.
Your Students’ Union officers work hard to represent your interests; make sure to work with them to achieve what you as students want. Treat them and all students with respect and dignity. TheStudents’ Union continues to work closely with the university to foster a sense of belonging for all students. Over the coming months additional support mechanisms will be created to ensure students are safe and well.
If you or someone you know experiences any form of harassment, please report it. The University responds promptly to any reports through this form
