One of our main aims for this year is to make sure that we are able to better support our clubs and societies, helping their committees to run activities that are more successful and sustainable.
We wanted to create something that could help our students develop their skills and strengthen employability prospects, create a vibrant and lively campus cultures that offers a wide range of activities for our students as well as ensuring that clubs and societies are well run, and are sustainable in the long-term.
To do this we have launched the Club/Society accreditation scheme. The accreditation scheme is made up of four tiers:
Each level has criteria that clubs and societies must meet in order to be awarded that level of accreditation. The higher the level of accreditation the more benefits clubs and societies will be entitled to. These benefits include transport to and from fixtures and trip destinations, access to 50/50 funding for training courses, use of the SU mini buses and access to larger amounts of additional funding.
In addition to launching the accreditation scheme we will also be running workshops across all three campuses. These will cover a range of topics and are aimed at helping club & societies achieve the highest accreditation they can. The schedule of workshops up until Christmas are as follows:
Week Commencing 10/12/2018 - Constitution Writing, give it a Go Planning & Fundraising
We have workshops scheduled in for after Christmas but would love feedback as to what you want those workshops to look like. If there are any workshops in particular you would like us to hold then please let us know by contacting your campus engagement assistants.

There will be opportunities for clubs and societies to apply for additional funding during the course of the year, I would encourage all clubs and societies to fully engage with the Accreditation Scheme as the activities who do best at attaining that accreditation will be most successful at achieving additional funding.
The first round of clubs and societies funding applications opens 02/01/2019 and you can fill in the form on www.tsdsu.co.uk
