I’m looking to encourage UWTSD students to promote sustainable clothing practice in their own community through fashion reuse.

Did you know the average British person throws away around 80% of clothing each year!? 57% ends up in landfills, wreaking havoc on the environment. Synthetic plastics from clothing will make their way into the ocean, damaging marine life and contributing to climate change.

Here are six ways you can help:

  1. Shop from sustainable and ethical fashion brands.
  2. Shop at your local charity shops.
  3. Donate your unused clothes.
  4. If you can’t donate, recycle your old textiles and garments.
  5. Consider renting instead of buying.
  6. Host a clothing swap.
