Pride is on its way...

 Pride celebrations are starting early this year, and we want to shout out to these events from parades to pop-up festivals, food to music, and more – it's going to be amazing!

We’ll be marking Pride with our pop-up events and Pride Pack giveaways starting in May. Free to students, these packs are filled with Pride goodies - so you can be loud and proud. More details will be released soon.

 

Pop-Up with Anna on Carmarthen Campus

Anna Holland, Carmarthen’s LGBTQ+ Open Space Officer, will be leading a Pop-up Union event on Carmarthen Campus – so keep an eye out. 

 

Safe Space Stickers

Anna is also helping create Safe Space stickers for UWTSD students and staff. If you see these stickers on office or classroom doors, know that you’re in a space that is a safe-haven for the LGBTQ+ community.

And if you see it on someone’s laptop or phone, know that this person is an ally or member of the community, and is someone you can talk to. 

This idea is rolling out on the Carmarthen campus first. If you are interested in helping get this started on your campus, let us know at studentvoice@uwtsd.ac.uk.

Swansea

Pride Parade, Saturday 30 April, 10am - 1pm

Take part in Swansea’s Pride Parade; starting at 11am on Wind Street. Then head on over to the National Waterfront Museum from 12pm – 7pm for a festival with food and music.

Carmarthen

Pride In The Park, Saturday 11 June, 10 am - 1 pm

There will be a Pop-Up Pride in the Park with stalls and an opportunity to mingle with the LGBTQ+ community as well as the local community. This Pride event is being held in memorial of Kate Rees nee Boyt, who was a very proud and supportive ally of the LGBTQ+ community. Carmarthenshire Council is welcoming LGBTQ+ students from UWTSD to this event!

 

Lampeter

Pride Social

Pride, Saturday 27 & Sunday 28 August

Cardiff Pride is back! It will be a celebration with parades, food, and music. Pride will take place on the City Hall lawns.

This year's parade is held to commemorate 50 years of evolution for the Pride movement/the first-ever Pride parade that took place in the UK. There will be Pride torch bearers acknowledged at this celebration.
