As LGBTQ+ History Month ends, we wanted to shout-out some great charities doing some great work for the LGBTQ+ community.

At Stonewall, we stand for lesbian, gay, bi, trans, queer, questioning and ace (LGBTQ+) people everywhere. We imagine a world where all LGBTQ+ people are free to be ourselves and can live our lives to the full.
Mind is a charity that supports and advises anyone who is suffering with their mental health, they have a specific section of their website dedicated to the mental health and wellbeing of individuals who are LGBTQ+.
Mermaids has been supporting transgender, nonbinary and gender-diverse children, young people, and their families since 1995. Mermaids is a leading charity that helps build online and in person LGBTQ+ communities.
We support young people into safe homes and employment, education or training, in a welcoming and open environment that celebrates LGBTQ+ identities.
Switchboard has operated a telephone line since the 1970’s and today they still have a telephone line as well as a online chat function and email service. They offer advice and support and a safe space for LGBTQ+ individuals to talk and be heard.
There are plenty of amazing and helpful charities out there and these really are just a few. We also want you to know that if you need support from the Students’ Union you can utilise the LGBTQ+ Hub or reach out to our advice team. The university also has help for you via student services.
