Tips to improve your mental health.

Tip 1 - Active Relaxation.

Relaxation doesn’t have to mean sitting still
– gentle exercise can help you relax too.

Take a walk, going at your own pace.
You might choose to go for a longer walk,
but even a few minutes of walking can help you feel relaxed.

Tip 2 - Spend Time In Nature.

Spending time outside and in green spaces can be great for your physical and mental health. Take a walk in the countryside, visit the beach or through a local park.

Tip 3 - Download an App.

Download a meditation app to your phone. Spending a few minutes in the morning or evening (or both!) to be mindful and meditate will help promote positive thinking and can reduce your stress levels. Headspace is one app recommended by Student Minds.

Tip 4 - Get Some Rest.

Having a good night sleep really helps to improve your physical and mental health. Try creating a schedule that suits you. Avoid stimulants such as caffeine, nicotine or alcohol close to bed-time, and reduce your screen usage too.

Tip 5 - Make A List

When you have too much going on in your head, write your thoughts down on paper. It's a great way of sorting things out in your head.

Real Men Do Cry

We’re announcing the launch of our Real Men Do Cry campaign, which aims to raise awareness of men's mental health issues. We believe the topic isn't talked about enough - with problems being ignored and many people not getting the help they need and deserve. We want to encourage a more open discussion, so over the next week we'll be providing tips to help improve mental health, facts, ways to get support, and giving you the chance to tell us how you're feeling with our feedback form.
