It’s that time again for another Union Spotlight. We met up with UWTSD Karting; we had a chat with Matthew Jones their President to talk about anything and everything about their karting society.

We are making sure to celebrate our clubs and societies and everything they do, and introduce you to some activities and interests that you may not have considered before. 

Firstly Who are UWTSD Karting? 

UWTSD Karting is a society based on Swansea campus that brings people who have a passion for cars and motorsports together. We do far more than just karting; we do socials, watch-parties and obviously we do races. 

Who is the UWTSD Karting Society for? 

If you like cars, motorsport or just like a bit of an adrenaline rush then you’re more than welcome to join our society. UWTSD Karting is for everyone at all levels, whether you’re taking part in competitions or have never tried Karting before. 

We are also trying to improve the accessibility of the sport; karting and motorsports is usually quite expensive to get into, and we are aiming to provide sessions at a discounted price so that more people can have a go and enjoy the sport. 

What Can We Look Forward To?

We have a few things in the works that we can’t quite announce yet; just keep a look out on our Instagram to keep up to date!

What we can announce is that we have been lucky enough to have one team entered in the British Universities Karting Championships (BUKC). It’s a massive achievement, especially for such a small team like ours, we will be competing against hundreds of students from all over the UK. 

We are hoping to be holding different events and activities soon to help fundraise for our society; this will help go towards our competitive side of our society, helping with the costs of taking part in competitions.
