We've written to MPs and MSs: Cost of Living

Monday 05-12-2022 - 15:17

The rising cost of living is hitting students hard - no matter their age, no matter where they live, and no matter what they study.

Cost of living research from the NUS tells us that almost a third of students surveyed are left with just £50 a month after paying their rent and bills - with 52% of students spending less on food and 68% no longer able to afford course materials. Your Union and University are supporting you through this crisis with grants, funds and other paid opportunities.

We've written to MPs and MSs

That said, we believe that further meaningful action needs to come from our Governments. That's why your Union Presidents have written to Members of Parliament and Members of Senedd on your behalf in October 2022. Over the next couple of weeks, we'll keep you posted on updates and on the ways you can get support.

What can you do now? You can sign the NUS campaign about the cost of living crisis on students.
