We won an award for Big Breakfast, Big Voice!

"Seeing students come together for the Big Breakfast Big Voice campaign was such a rewarding experience. It was amazing to see how much a free breakfast before class meant to people, especially during the cost of living crisis. So many students told us it made them feel supported and more connected to the university community, and hearing that made all the work behind the campaign feel worthwhile"

- Rainna, Cardiff and Swansea President 2025/26

Award Alert! Remember our “Big Breakfast, Big Voice” campaign we ran earlier in the year? Well, it’s only gone and won itself the Outstanding Student Campaign 2026 award from NUS Cymru.

Jen and Steve headed up to the awards ceremony and collected the award on behalf of the Students’ Union. We’re so proud of this project. Alongside the 747 free breakfasts given away, the real success came from getting out onto campus and having genuine conversations with students whilst keeping things chill - creating space for them to share their insights and thoughts.

We’re the people in purple, and there’s nothing more that we love than putting on our purples and heading out on campus. And knowing that our students are busy, we kept the whole thing accessible by going out at the times and to places that worked best for them.

"Delighted that Big Breakfast Big Voice has been recognised by NUS, but the real measure was how it landed with students on the day, and how our team came together to deliver something with genuine impact. We'll be building on this. Representing and supporting students isn't just what we do, it's why we exist, and creating real opportunities for connection is how that comes to life".

- Simon, Student Voice Manager

We’ll wrap this up by saying a huge thank you to everyone who stopped for a chat, grabbed breakfast, or shared feedback with us. And congratulations to the team for helping make this campaign such a success.
