We appreciate that throughout your student journey, you may need some support along the way. This may be support around academic processes as well as financial and housing support. Our advice is free, confidential and independent and our team is on hand to ensure you have the right information to make informed decisions.
The advice team can help provide support and guidance around academic processes. This could be Academic Appeals, Academic Misconduct, Complaints, Fitness to Practice, Non-Academic Misconduct, Interruption of Studies and Extenuating Circumstances.
We can provide information on the University policies as well as providing support on how to improve the chances of you receiving a successful outcome. Our advice team may also offer to attend a meeting with you for support, but we would not usually speak on your behalf.
The advice team can also provide support around housing, finance and wellbeing as well as signposting to organisations that may be able to provide further specialist support.
The advice team will not usually act or complete forms on your behalf. Our role is to empower you to be able to make informed decisions.
The advice team are not part of any decision-making processes around your case as we are independent to the University.
We appreciate that you may not always have the time to reach out to our advice team, so we’re ensuring information around academic processes as well as guidance on financial and housing queries is easily available.
On our advice webpage, you can find information around the various academic processes including some helpful FAQs. We’ve recently updated our webpages to improve accessibility so take a look!

“I like to think that Student Advisors are the gold sifters of academic policies. We have the capacity and space to sift through academic policies for student cases; sifting out any confusing clauses not applicable and present the stuff that applies to their situation.”

“A large part of our role is meeting students and understanding the challenges they can face throughout their academic journey, and I really enjoy this because it gives me a better picture in terms of what we can do in that space to improve the support and the advice we give. Between January 2024 and December 2024, we supported 903 students and it’s important for us, that as our student cases increase, we ensure our service remains sustainable and beneficial for our students.”
