Coming back after the winter break can feel like a lot. These events are designed to help you reconnect, socialise, try something new, and beat the winter blues—so you can feel more like yourself again #BeatTheWinterBlues
University life puts you in shared spaces every day—lectures, group work, placements, residences, social events. In these spaces, students often witness biased comments, exclusion, harassment, or behaviour that feels uncomfortable. Many people want to help, but don’t step in because they’re unsure what to say, worried about making things worse, or don’t know what support is available.
This training is designed for exactly those moments.
Delivered by the University's Wellbeing team, this training will help you explore the causes and impacts of biases, learn safe and effective strategies to challenge discriminatory behaviours, and build confidence in responding to difficult situations. This session will also highlight how the bystander approach aligns with university procedures to foster a more inclusive and supportive community.
• Confidence for real life situations
• Practical skills and the knowledge of what to do
• Supporting yourself and others by knowing your options
• Stronger peer connections at university
• Personal and professional development skills - these can be transferable for future job opportunities
You don’t need prior knowledge or experience—just a willingness to learn and reflect.
Sign up to be invited to the Teams link, this session will be online between 12pm and 2pm and there will be a short break
.
We look forward to seeing you!
