Chinese Arts Workshop (Cardiff)

Try Traditional Chinese Arts

Join our free Chinese arts workshop, where we’ll try traditional calligraphy and painting techniques to celebrate Spring Festival.

When: 17:30 - 19:30, Monday 23 February
Where: Studio 1A, Haywood House

Chinese Calligraphy

You’ll be given all the materials you need as we write the character “Fu” (福) - a symbol of good fortune - using Chinese calligraphy. In Chinese tradition, the “Fu” character is displayed on doors or windows during the Lunar New Year to invite luck and blessings into the home - and who doesn’t need more of that?

Decorative Paper Fans

This new year is the “Year of the Horse” - characterised by themes of energy, vitality, and new beginnings. You’ll have the chance to paint decorative paper fans using traditional Chinese painting techniques.

Everyone is welcome

This workshop is a relaxed, hands-on experience and open to everyone. It’s totally free, and no artistic background is needed - just curiosity and a willingness to try something new.

This event is led by Rainna, the Cardiff and Swansea President for 2025/26.
