1. What sport/activity do you part-take in?

Football and girls touch rugby

2. What’s the best thing about being active?

I think it’s the chance to meet other people that you wouldn’t necessarily meet and the experience of working as a team as well and I think I probably would have dropped out of uni if I wasn’t in sports teams.  I think my favourite thing about it is just being involved in a team rather than the actual sport

3. Have you ever faced any barriers to get involved in sport and how did you get over them (if at all)?

I think sometimes that sport can be classed as a popularity contest so if you don’t really speak to the people involved you don’t really feel like you’re welcome, but I’d just say give it a go and go along and you usually fit in when you get to know people better

4. What sport or activity would you like to try out but have never had the chance?

That’s a weird one I don’t know.. I’d like to like kayaking or something like that, maybe surfing

5. What would you say to other girls who would like to get involved in sport but are scared or worried to start? /What would you say to other people who would like to get involved in sport but are scared or worried to start?

Just go for it, because you’re the one who is holding yourself back then, and you’d miss out on opportunities where you could be involved

6. Why did you choose the sport/activity that you currently do?

Because my friend made me? (Laughs).  Just to make more friends and to get more involved

7. Have you had to overcome the fear of being judged to participate in sport or your chosen activity?

Yeah, just similar to anybody who isn’t the athletic type does, but I feel like you just got to get on with it and the sooner you do the better it is

8. Do you feel like there have been any benefits since starting your chosen sport/ activity?

Yeah I think I made a lot more friends and that I’ve come out of my shell a lot more this year and it’s encouraged me to get my priorities in order.  Also I started the women’s touch rugby team this year which hopefully is going to progress.  That will also enhance my leadership and organisation skills while keeping me active which is a massive positive
