1822 have previously had extended opening times for evening meals.  Sadly it did not work, HOWEVER, under the block system I believe that at least one extended opening evening would work and would be beneficial to the well being of all students.

At present lectures finish at 5pm and there is no provision on campus to sit, eat and drink in a friendly environment catching up with each other and meeting new students too.  I believe that the module system is great BUT 1822 closing early Thursday’s and Fridays means that especially those living off campus do not get the opportunity to have some valuable friendship time with their peers.

I propose that a request, at the very least, of a trial of extended opening hours and the provision of a meal option and coffee would be advantageous to both 1822 and also students.  

Leaving lectures and going straight back to halls or home off campus can be isolating and makes meeting peers very difficult.
