Apologies for the delay in response. Thank you again for submitting your idea through the students’ union website, we appreciate any feedback from students. 
Your idea related to the commercial running of the Students’ Union which is outside of the scope of the ideas platform, but we’ve still taken your feedback on board. 
We wanted to share with you where we are at with Xtension.  
 
In order to legally open Xtension’s CCTV system needs to be operational, this is part of the license in Ceredigion for nightclubs. Currently, the CCTV for Xtension does not function. We are working with the university to have a new system installed which will form part of their network, however this is taking some time. We've even looked into alternative solutions such as wifi cameras however this has not been successful. 
 
Our license noted that to open Xtension we need to hire security to manage entry. SIA accredited security staff are not willing to make the way to Lampeter. We’ve contacted several different agencies and companies, however each have said the same that their staff do not live near Lampeter and are unable to help us. We’re still making enquiries. 
Outside of these issues we also need to do some work on the DJ booth and lighting rig, again this is on our ‘to do’ list.  
 
We’re sorry that we can’t commit to opening Xtension quickly, we’d love to be able to open but with current capacity of the union and the above reasons its currently not possible, even for one-off events. Appreciate this is disappointing but please do keep submitting ideas about what you’d like to see, if we can do it we will, if there are barriers we’ll explain what they are.
