Why work at UWTSD Students' Union?

Monday 14-09-2020 - 17:23

Here at UWTSD Students' Union, we're looking to recruit a Head of Membership Services and a Lampeter Venue Manager. Whilst we think these roles are exciting and full of potential, you might be asking yourself 'Why would I work at the Students' Union?'. We've put together a few reasons why you should consider a role at the SU.

You'll make a real difference to students.

UWTSD has over 10,000 students, and we're here to help them make the most of their time at university. We offer advice and guidance, we champion their ideas, we help them set up their own clubs & societies, and we run events and two student bars. By working at the SU, you'll have the opportunity to make a positive impact, both big and small, on the university experience of students across all our campuses.

You'll join a friendly and supportive team.

Our team genuinely enjoys and cares about what they do. Whilst every job has its ups and downs, you'll get the support you need from a friendly and dedicated team.

You'll contribute to our growing organisation.

Whilst most people would like to forget all about 2020. It has been an important year for us; we gained a new CEO, we gained a new Sabbatical team, and we launched our new brand - but we haven't finished yet! We're also in the process of updating our governing and strategic documents, which sets our values and what we do. By joining our team now, you'll contribute to the growth and direction of the Students' Union.

Don't just take our word for it, here's what our team has to say.

Some of my favourite things are the fact that we help so many different students from all areas of life on so many different campuses as well as having an incredible team to work with to do so as effectively as possible.

My favourite thing about working at UWTSD Students’ Union is the variety it offers. Paired with how fun and creative the team is, means that no one day is the same. I also love the opportunities it offers in terms of supporting and empowering students to become leaders.

We work across a lot of sites, but we don’t feel distant from each other. I love that we can all pick up the phone or make a Teams call and catch up. Everyone is passionate about enhancing the student experience, you don’t get that in most places. Staff genuinely care about doing their best and about each other.

The company culture is supportive and friendly, it makes coming to work a positive experience. The students on all campuses are very different and give you the opportunity to challenge yourself and have fun helping students receive the best university experience.

The friendly and supportive team has made all the difference in my role, and it's rewarding to help support and engage with so many different students. My final endorsement for working at UWTSD Students' Union is this; I have never experienced those Sunday evening blues in this job.
