You can browse all our clubs and societies on our groups' page. If you find a group you like, you can join by clicking the 'Join Now' button at the top of the page.
In the first instance, it's best to contact a member of the group directly. You can find out who the key contact is by visit the groups listing. If you are unable to make contact, send an email to the Student Engagement Assistant for your campus.
To successfully join a club or society, you must purchase the correct membership tier. We have two levels of membership, Tier 1 and Tier 2. Purchasing membership allows you to join an unlimited number of groups on the same tier until the end of the academic year. Please note that some groups may charge an additional membership fee that's unique to them, so check the details on the individual group page.
Tier 1 membership cost £5, and Tier 2 membership costs £20.
When a group first applies to become an official club or society, we review their application and depending on their unique requirements, we categorise them Tier 1 or Tier 2. Examples of things we consider are fixtures fee, transport costs, venue hire, equipment purchases etc.
When joining a group, you'll be prompted to purchase the required membership at checkout. You can directly purchase memberships here.
Don't worry, when you sign up to a group, the required membership will be added automatically at check out.
After purchasing Tier 1 membership, you're free to join as many Tier 1 groups as you like without having to buy membership again. Please note that some groups may charge an additional membership fee that's unique to them, so check the details on the individual group page.
After purchasing Tier 2 membership, you're free to join as many Tier 2 groups as you like without having to buy membership again. Please note that some groups may charge an additional membership fee that's unique to them, so check the details on the individual group page.
Yes, if the groups you want to join are a mix of Tier 1 and Tier 2, then you'll need to buy both memberships types.
We reduce the price of our memberships by 50% in January. Your membership will be valid until the end of the academic year.
Money raised from memberships goes towards insurance cover, kit and equipment, access to vehicles and facility hire. Learn more about the Students' Union investment into clubs and societies here.
