Here are a few reasons why you should join our society and learn Mandarin:

1. Mandarin is widely spoken across all of China, Singapore, and lots of diasporas all over the world, it is an important language in the global economy, and is increasingly important in international business. By learning Mandarin, one can gain access to a large market of potential customers and business partners.
2. Learning Mandarin helps to promote understanding between different cultures and foster relationships between people. It is amazing when you can speak another’s language!
3. Mandarin can help people to open the door to new career opportunities and give individuals a competitive edge.
4. Studying Chinese characters can bring you inspiration in many areas of design and enrich your leisure time by reading Chinese novels and exercising calligraphy, it can be a really good activity for promoting happy healthy wellbeing.

What will we do as a society? Is it just Mandarin?

Our core activity is Mandarin calligraphy and time to calmly socialise. We will however do a multitude of things that will enhance knowledge and understanding of the Chinese culture. 

 

 

• Mandarin learning - as a society we will learn popular Mandarin expressions at present and essentials in communication, you can be any level to join in with this. 
• We will be appreciating popular literature & Cross-cultural activities/traditions such as Makeup, Hanfu Costume experiences and Paper Cutting Art.
• Visual Art : calligraphy, this will help us with learning mandarin as well as becoming well versed in the art of calligraphy.
• Cultural immersion - we hope to attend Chinese markets, drink traditional Chinese teas and eat traditional Chinese foods.
• Occasionally we will hold some recreational leisure socials such as walks and meeting for dinner etc.
