Our clubs and societies can have a huge positive impact on your student experience. They bring life to campus, allow you to meet amazing people, and provide a balance to all that academic work.
At the end of each year, some of our groups don’t manage to elect a committee. These groups get moved into our Lead a Group programme. They are usually good to go - often with money in their accounts, most of the paperwork in place, and ready for students to come along and pick them up.
You can revive one of our Lead a Group clubs and societies and get a head start (as a lot of the groundwork is already done for you).
All you need to do is find a group you'd want to lead from the list below and fill out the application form. And if other students have also expressed an interest in the same group, we’ll put you in contact with them to help get things moving.

Application Form
Once you've found a group you'd like to lead, complete our online application form and provide a risk assessment and a completed budget forecast. If you need any help, reach out to our team at su.opps@uwtsd.ac.uk.
What happens next?
1. Meet your Student Opportunities Coordinator...
Once we receive your application, one of our Student Opportunities Coordinators will contact you and run through any additional information that's needed. Once everything is ready, your application form will be submitted to our Exec Committee (who approve all our clubs and societies). Once approved, your Student Opportunities Coordinator will book a meeting with you to discuss the next steps.
2. Complete your core documents...
If your club or socitiy is approved, you'll need to complete the following core documents:
- Constitution (the group's official rulebook)
- Risk Assessment for regular/general activity
- Budget Forecast (predicted financial plan)
Don't worry, your Student Opportunities Coordinator knows these like the back of their hand, and as the group you are about to lead already existed, you could utilise some of the exisiting information.
3. Promote, promote, promote...
Once you've got your core documents in order and your membership set up, your group is good to go. Your Student Opportunities Coordinator will teach you the do's and don'ts via training (we promise to try and make this quick, fun and painless). And then you can start planning activities, events, socials and so on!
