As a student group you are eligible to apply for a grant funding to help cover the cost of activity, supply new equipment or to put towards a group event.  

 

The Students' Union had a small pot of funding to help student groups run activity; groups can apply to receive up to £200 in grant funding per student group.  

 

The group will need to apply for the funding through the following link - Application Form. The application will then be reviewed by the Student Opportunities Team and supported by a student representative in a monthly Grant funding review meeting.  

 

Student Group Grant Funding Application's will be open from November 1st, 2026, until June 1st, 2027.  

 

Please be aware just because you have submitted an application does not mean you have been granted the money. If you group has been granted the funding, then the student group committee will be emailed and made aware.  

 

The funding will then be transferred into the groups account, and you will have three months from being made aware of the funding being granted to spend the entirety of the funding. If the funding hasn't been spent by this deadline the funding will be removed from the groups account and relocated back into the central grant funding account so other groups have the opportunity to apply for the funding!  

 

Our top Recommendation's when applying for grant funding🌟 

 

✅ Be clear on what you are wanting to spend the money on! If the cost of what you are wanting to purchase is over the limited amount of funding, you are able to request make sure you explain how you are going to cover the remaining cost. 

 

✅ Make sure all information is up to date and valid. This includes membership numbers if you are aware, you have 30 members but only 10 are signed up on the union website make sure to get them signed up before submitting the application. That membership could help you cover some of the cost of activity.  

 

✅How much money does your group have in your account? If you have £1000 in your account and your applying for the full £200 funding to cover £200 worth of new equipment, we will ask you to make the purchase out of group funds to allow other groups who are not in as positive financial position the opportunity to apply for funding.  

✅ Is this activity/ trip a repeat activity happening every year? If so, your group should think about ways they could fundraise and plan in advance to cover this repeat cost, we ask groups not to depend on repeat activity being funded by the Student Group Grant Funding.  

 

✅Groups are not able to purchase alcohol with student groups funds including any money granted through the Student Group Grant funding process. 

 

✅ Have fun and make sure everyone's included!! Grant funding should give opportunity to benefit all members of the group, please do not apply for funding to support a limited few members.
