February is LGBTQ+ History Month, an opportunity for all of us to celebrate and reflect on the rich history of the LGBTQ+ community.
It's a time to recognise the achievements and struggles of the past. It's a time to celebrate and love in the present. It's a time to take action for the future where everyone can be authentically and proudly themselves.
Breaking barriers, campaigning for equal rights, overcoming adversity - It's a marathon, not a race - and we're in it for the long haul. As your Students' Union, we make this promise - to whole-heartedly amplify our LGBTQ+ members' voices, to celebrate the community.
This year's theme celebrates LGBT+ contributions to healthcare and medicine. As well as a number of other events and projects we are running this month, we will also be sharing healthcare stories and signposting support.
Our student-led activism never stops - here are a few of our recent wins and things you can get involved with this LGBTQ+ History Month.
Students now have the option to display their pronouns in Microsoft Teams at UWTSD (keep an eye out for the full post, with step-by-step instructions, coming real soon).
We're relaunching our Safe Space stickers, a campaign started by the late Anna Louise Holland, one of our previous Carmarthen-based LGBTQ+ Part-time Officers.
We'll be giving away 100 of our limited edition Pride-edition Union Lanyards.
We'll be doing an LGBTQ+ book giveaway across the month.
Carmarthen, Lampeter and Swansea students can nominate themselves as one of our LGBTQ+ Officers (including our Gender Identity Officer).
