Deforestation is a major issue affecting the planets climate, biodiversity, agriculture, air quality, water scarcity, overall resiliance, and ability to support human civilisation as we know it. The Students' Union has already recognised the benefits of reforestation through efforts such as The Big Plant and paper-saving initiatives. However, we can be doing more - and the great thing about Ecosia is that we won't even notice the difference.

Ecosia is a social business, meaning that they measure their success by the positive impact which they have on people and the environment. Essentially, they work in the same way as Google - companies pay Ecosia for advertising rights and they use the money to provide a service to us, in the form of an internet search engine. The key difference, though, is that Ecosia use their profits to plant trees around the globe.

An individual using Ecosia to make three searches, every day for a year would lead to them planting 24 real trees...just imagine the impact we could have as an entire institution!
