Lobby University to create a officially recognized Mentoring Scheme for International Students

Council Believes 

International Students face particular challenges when they come to the UK to Study
These include 

  • Awareness of the British and Welsh Culture
  • New style of learning,
  • understanding and fluency in English 
  • Pre-arrival questions 
  • Integration questions
  • course related questions
  • culture shock and reverse culture shock

 

Council Resolves 

  • TSDSU Should lobby the university to create a mentoring scheme for International Students
    • providing better student-student support for 
      • Pre-Arrival - Questions and support
      • Arrival - pickups along with Senior Student officer and international officer
      • Post Arrival - Support settling and integrating in the university along with International Officer and international students society [Culture Shock]
      • Pre Departure - Support students when departing from the UK
      • Departure - Along with Senior Students Officer
      • Post Departure - Support in any reverse cultural shock
    • Students Mentors could be either of the following - 
      • Full-time Home Students
      • Full-time EU students 
      • Full-time International Students
      • Students from the same course
  • TSDSU should oppose any ideas that have any alternatives to having a student mentoring scheme
